Property safety standards

Under our community policies, every property must meet safety standards. These are the standards we hold our own apartments to, and partner properties must meet them before they are listed and for as long as they are with us.

Secure entry

• A smart lock or a secure key box that lets us issue a unique code per booking and change it between guests.
• Doors and windows that close and lock properly.
• Building entry that keeps out anyone without a code.

Fire safety

• Working smoke alarms, tested regularly.
• A carbon monoxide detector where there is a gas appliance or a solid-fuel source.
• A fire extinguisher or fire blanket in the kitchen.
• Clear emergency exits, and exit routes shown in the arrival instructions we send guests.

Essential amenities

The things guests are told every apartment has: fibre Wi-Fi, a smart TV, a full kitchen in apartments, a washing machine in apartments, heating and hot water that work, and fresh linen and towels for every stay. See what is included in your apartment for the guest-facing list.

Recording devices

Recording devices inside a property are forbidden unless they are clearly disclosed to guests and approved by us in writing. That includes cameras, audio devices and smart speakers with recording enabled. Undisclosed devices are a breach of our policies and of the law, and result in the property being removed.

Reporting and repairs

Guests are asked to report anything unsafe, such as faulty wiring, a broken window or a slippery floor, and our team acts on it. Where a repair is needed, we arrange it and tell you. Where a repair needs your approval, we contact you before going ahead. See when something goes wrong during a stay.

Legal requirements

Meeting our standards does not replace your own legal duties as the owner, such as gas safety certification and electrical inspection. Keep those current and send us copies when they are renewed.
